Seaborn Networks announced plans for a direct route undersea cable system between Miami and Brazil.
Seabras-1 will be a 32 Tbps system that connects Miami and Sao Paulo, with a branch that lands in Fortaleza, Brazil. Activation is scheduled for 2014.
Seaborn is headed by Larry Schwartz (CEO), who previously was one of the owners of Bridgehouse Marine Ltd., which operates one of the largest fleets of cable ships in the world. Larry led the acquisition of Global Marine from Global Crossing in 2004.
