Alcatel released a new version of its OmniPCX Office, an IP communication server designed for small-to-medium sized business. The new version includes major developments such as a new PC-based attendant console, IP telephony on a local wireless network, new features for multi-site SMBs, and a SIP network interface providing inter-site links for VoIP and access to further service provider offerings.
The Office Management Console ensures more efficient centralized and secure systems management at each of the sites through a secure Internet connection, providing a quicker response to customer requests, while alleviating the need to dispatch a technician.
In addition, the new Alcatel PIMphony Attendant console application enables SMBs distributed over several sites to centralize call reception at a single site, simplifying the management of incoming calls and call transfers for all sites. Using a graphical interface, it provides instant knowledge of the status of all the terminals on the network - analog or digital phones, IP or PC - wherever they are located.
The Alcatel OmniPCX Office release 5.0 includes a VoWLAN-based solution for wireless telephony over IP. This new offer consists of a range of wireless IP terminals providing the same level of service as Alcatel wired digital phones. In addition, the performance of the network is optimized due to integrated control of the quality of service, optimization of voice-data traffic, and management of the autonomy of terminals. This performance improvement results in improved network availability and quality of user experience.
Finally, the Alcatel OmniPCX Office supports SIP protocol both for inter- site voice/data links and for connectivity with Next Generation Networks.
The new version of the Alcatel OmniPCX Office is available in North America starting now through Alcatel business partners.
