ECI Telecom Unveils Layer 2 Encryption for Ethernet Networks

ECI Telecom introduced an advanced encryption solution that protects all types of data transmission over high-speed Ethernet networks. Target applications include government and military telecommunications.

ECI's Aurora-G card offers Layer-2 encryption and is integrated into ECI's flagship XDM Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) and All-Range ROADM solution. Aurora-G's functionalities, including its encryption keys, are managed remotely by ECI's LightSoft network management system.

The Aurora-G encrypts high-capacity Ethernet traffic with the strongest encryption method available today - AES-256. Any piece of data that is not encrypted with the correct key or that was modified in any way is rejected, thus safeguarding the network. ECI Telecom said its Aurora-G does not affect delay-sensitive applications, such as video, due to its extremely low latency. It operates transparently in the network, not affecting quality of service, and guaranteeing the original high throughput and capacity of the network.

Nevis Cites Rapid Growth for its Identity-based Policy Enforcement

Nevis Networks, a start-up based in Mountain View, California, announced it has more than doubled sales quarter-to-quarter, Q4 2006 -- Q1 2007 for its identity-based policy enforcement solutions. The company's customer base more than 140 percent in the last six months. In addition, the company has added its first Fortune 100 customer as demand for its LANenforcer product line continues to grow.

The Nevis LANenforcer family integrates comprehensive LAN security functions into an ASIC-based security policy processing engine that provides deep inspection of every packet to ensure data integrity and confidentiality, threat containment and user accountability. The appliances uniquely integrate identity-based user access control, deep threat defense and user visibility to ensure persistent pre-and-post connect LAN security.

"Customers that have looked at a wide variety of so-called NAC solutions have a strong preference for inline systems that can enforce granular pre and post-connect policies to secure their LANs," said Shane Buckley, chief operating officer of Nevis Networks. "But that's only half the battle. Deployment simplicity is the key driver of this wave of success we're enjoying in the marketplace."http://www.nevisnetworks.com

Fujitsu Debuts Packet Optical Networking Platform

Fujitsu Network Communications unveiled its new optical networking flagship -- the FLASHWAVE 9500 platform -- designed to provide modular integration of Ethernet, ROADM, and SONET transport technologies via a single addressable optical networking class element. Target applications include as a metro transport and aggregation platform for Triple-play Services; in Core Metro/Regional Networks, where the platform integrates and collapses complete ROADM and NGADM devices into a single network element with next-generation grooming capabilities; in Ethernet Services Networks, where the system supports the full range of E-Line and E-LAN services, as well as today's popular Ethernet over SONET services; and in Wireless Backhaul, where the system can manage latency-sensitive applications due to unified support for native TDM and connection-oriented Ethernet.

The FLASHWAVE 9500 features a patent-pending universal switch fabric that allows both SONET-based traffic and packet-based traffic to be switched, groomed, and managed in its native format without any form of circuit-emulation technology. Fujitsu said its FLASHWAVE 9500 system will support pseudowire and MPLS technologies to deliver connection-oriented Ethernet, and provide private-line equivalent QoS in a unified Ethernet services network.

The FLASHWAVE 9500 platform also delivers full ROADM operational simplicity and optical transmission performance at a leading density and cost-point. It offers up to 480G of SONET or packet bandwidth in one third of a rack. The platform integrates full ROADM functionality by supporting a two-degree, 40G-ready ROADM in one quarter of a shelf, while allowing easy expansion to multiple degrees.

Network management is provided through Fujitsu's existing suite of tools, including the NETSMART 500 craft user interface, NETSMART 1500 Element Management System (EMS), and the NETSMART 2000 planning tool.
