The Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) issued the first group of Carrier Ethernet product certifications to 39 systems from 16 different vendors. BT launched Ethernet Virtual Private LAN (EVLAN) service -- one of the first services to be launched as part of BT's 21CN initiative.
