Qatar National Broadband Network Company (Qnbn) has selected Ericsson to deploy a broadband network infrastructure using optical fiber (FTTx) in Qatar. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The network, which is set to begin rolling out immediately, will use Ericsson’s Fiber Optic Solution, Fiber Cables and Central offices. Qnbn will deploy a passive network infrastructure, providing equal and open access to operators to offer choice for the end-user and efficiently leveraging existing and new infrastructure in Qatar.

- Earlier this year, Qatar National Broadband Network Company (Q.NBN) received a 25 year license to provide fiber optic broadband throughout the Gulf country. The license will see Q.NBN offering wholesale broadband fiber optics infrastructure services to licensed network service providers and operators. As such, Q,NBN serve as the fiber optic broadband infrastructure provider.
