In this video, Brad Booth, Principal Engineer at Microsoft, talks about radically changing the way data centers are built. The old way of doing things simply did not achieve the scale that Microsoft needed. The basic idea is to build "castle on a cloud" - essentially giant warehouses that can accommodate all the technology needed.
Another prominent feature of Microsoft's data center strategy is the concept of "crop rotation" - key technology is swapped out about every 36 months and replaced by updated systems. Here he previews some the new technology in the next crop rotation cycle.
