XConnect Launches VoIP Interconnect Service

XConnect, a carrier neutral exchange located in London, has launched a service the interconnects VoIP islands and facilitates commercial relationships between them, by enabling settlement or settlement-free exchanges of traffic. The company is also forming an "XConnect Alliance" that offers multilateral settlement-free between carriers. Founding members include Gossiptel in the UK, Telio in Scandinavia and VozTelecom in Spain.


XConnect said its service provides the five key requirements for bridging VoIP islands:

  • a number directory resource,


  • interoperability management


  • commercial relationships (including the settlement-free XConnect Alliance)


  • VoIP security systems and


  • identity services.


The XConnect service uses interconnection technology from Kayote Networks.

TiVo Surpasses 3 Million Subscription Mark

TiVO's subscription base exceeded 3 million as of the end of January 2005. TiVo added approximately 698,000 total net subscriptions during its fourth quarter ended January 31, 2005, including approximately 251,000 TiVo-Owned subscriptions and 447,000 DIRECTV with TiVo subscriptions.
