AMD, Dell, Intel, Microsoft and Sun Drive New Management Web Services Spec

AMD, Dell, Intel, Microsoft and Sun published a new a Web services specification aimed at helping enterprises address the cost and complexity of IT management by providing a common way for systems to access and exchange management information across their entire IT systems.



The new Web Services Management (WS-Management) specification, which was originally known as WMX, enables managers to remotely access devices on their networks. Microsoft plans to support WS-Management in the next release of Microsoft Windows Server and the next release of Microsoft Operations Manager. France Telecom and Nokia Announce a Strategic Partnership

France Telecom and Nokia signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint development of new rich media solutions on mobile terminals encompassing rich media hardware, services, applications and contents by using various standards technologies such as non-proprietary end-to-end access enablers, Nokia's terminal software platforms, and the Symbian OS. EarthLink Selects Xten's VoIP SIP Softphones

EarthLink has licensed co-branded versions of Xten's X-PRO and X-Lite softphones for use with its new Earthlink Free Online Calling service. softphones are fully RFC3261 (SIP), RTP/RTCP (RFC 1889) and SDP (RFC 3264) compliant. • Earlier this month, EarthLink began offering free SIP-based calling to its 1.2 million broadband access members. The service uses an Xten's X-Lite softphone or an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter). These partnerships give EarthLink Free Online Calling subscribers free VoIP access to anyone using SIP-based services, including SIPphone and Free World Dialup. Cox Communications has purchased Auspice's TLX Real-Time Systems Integration and Operations Automation Platform to develop and deploy network operations automation solutions for its broadband services.
