NTT Tops One Million Optical Access Lines

NTT, Japan's incumbent service provider, added 189,000 optical access lines for its B-FLET's broadband service in Q2, pushing the carrier past the one million optical line milestone. NTT also added 358,000 ADSL lines in Q2, giving it a total of 4.4 million ADSL subscribers. Overall, NTT reported revenue of 2,654.0 billion yen for the quarter ending 30-June-2004. Net income for the period was 185 billion yen. The company maintained it forecasts for the rest of the year unchanged. Comcast launched a Video Mail service as an enhancement for its cable modem customers. Users can create video messages up to 45 seconds in length, using their personal computer and a webcam.
