Randall Stephenson Takes Over at AT&T

Randall Stephenson assumed the position of chairman of the board and chief executive officer of AT&T, replacing Edward E. Whitacre Jr. who retired from both positions.



Stephenson announced that the following executives will report to him:

  • Bill Blase, 52, senior executive vice president, Human Resources
  • Jim Callaway, 60, senior executive vice president, Executive Operations

  • Jim Cicconi, 54, senior executive vice president, External and Legislative Affairs

  • Cathy Coughlin, 49, senior executive vice president and global marketing officer

  • Ralph de la Vega, 55, group president, Regional Telecommunications and Entertainment

  • Rick Lindner, 52, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer

  • Forrest Miller, 54, group president, Corporate Strategy and Development

  • Stan Sigman, 60, president and chief executive officer, AT&T Mobility

  • Ron Spears, 59, group president, Global Business Services

  • John Stankey, 44, group president, Operations Support

  • Wayne Watts, 53, senior executive vice president and general counsel
  • Ray Wilkins, 55, group president, Diversified Businesses

  • Randall Stephenson previously served as chief operating officer for AT&T for all wireless and wireline operations. He was named chief operating officer for SBC Communications Inc. in April 2004, and continued as COO following SBC's acquisition of AT&T Corp. in November 2005. Stephenson began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1982 in the information technology organization in Oklahoma. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of Oklahoma.
