BigBand Supplies CMTS Platform in Austria

LIWEST Kabelmedien GmbH, the second largest cable operator in Austria, has deployed BigBand Networks' Cuda CMTS to deliver high-speed data and voice services to subscribers near the Austrian city of Linz. The operator is also testing BigBand's M-CMTS solution as part of the company's early access program. BigBand's M-CMTS enables operators to increase access speeds at a relatively low cost per bit by migrating functionality traditionally performed by the CMTS onto a less expensive edge quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.
