CeBIT 2003: Marconi's Parton Notes Progress in Restructuring

Mike Parton, Marconi's CEO, said his company has essentially completed the task of restructuring its core business and streamlining operations. Speaking at CeBIT, Parton said Marconi has successfully retained its key customers and continued to bring strategically important new products to market. Parton also outlined Marconi's vision, where future business falls into four primary areas: Optical Networks, Broadband Routing and Switching, Broadband Access (European access, next generation voice networks, and fixed wireless), and Services. Parton believes that partnerships, where research and development and routes to market are shared for mutual benefit, will be an increasingly important factor in the industry and expects Marconi to be an active participant.
