Nortel and LG-Nortel (the joint venture of LG Electronics and Nortel) introduced an Ethernet Access solution that uses a WDM-PON architecture.
Nortel said the advantage of this approach is the assurance of dedicated bandwidth and more security over connections which are always available, and never stalled or slowed down by other traffic on the network. The solution starts with speeds of 100 Mbps and easily scalable to add more bandwidth.

- Wavelength Passive Unit 1132 -- the Wavelength Passive Filter (WPF) is an Arrayed Waveguide Grated (AWG) filter that takes in colored light from the Ethernet Access Service Terminal 1100 and splits the wavelengths out towards the Ethernet Access Business and Residential Units.
