Belgacom is using optical gear from Ekinops to provide live coverage of the Pro League football matches in Belgium. Belgacom needed to connect its 10 Gbps backbone to all the stadiums of the soccer First League, and then link the various broadcasters to its own switching center. Belgacom had specific needs in terms of interfaces and infrastructure. Specifications included:
- Aggregation of 4 x HD-SDI video signals on 10 Gigabit Ethernet
- Integration of one 1 Gigabit Ethernet channel for remote management
- Integration of a channel dedicated to a voice service for the Belgacom technical staff liaison
- Utilization of only 1 WDM wavelength
- Interconnection with an existing DWDM system
- Deployment of a fully tested solution before the season began.
