Telefónica reported continued growth in revenues (EUR 42.014 billion, up 8.6%), OIBDA (24.5%), OI (51%) and net profit (51%) compared with the same period a year earlier. Revenues at Telefónica Latinoamérica climbed 12.6%, those of Telefónica España rose 4.9%, while revenues at Telefónica O2 Europe increased 4.9%.
Some highlights for the quarter:
- The total customer base grew 11.6% to 218 million access lines (mobile + fixed), of which 126.5 million accesses were in Latin America, 45.6 million in Spain and 40.7 million in Europe
- Telefónica España currently has 45.6 million accesses, an increase of 5.3% year-on-year.
- Telefónica Latinoamérica continued to grow its accesses (+14.9% year-on-year to 126.5 million) thanks to a robust mobile market, the strong growth in broadband, and an expanding pay TV subscriber base.
- Telefónica O2 Europe saw the number of total accesses advance 7.8% to 40.7 million, driven by strong performance in the mobile business, notably in the contract segment.
- Retail internet broadband accesses at the Telefónica Group advanced 32.1% year-on-year to over 9.6 million at the end of September.
- In Spain, retail broadband accesses surpassed 4.3 million (up 27.3% year-on-year), in Latin America, 4.7 million (34.4%) while in Europe, 572,000 (+53.2%).
- Pay TV accesses at the end of the quarter exceeded 1.4 million, 59% more than a year before, with operations up and running in Spain, the Czech Republic, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Brazil.
- In terms of revenue, Telefónica España current accounts for 36.8% of the Group total.
