Nokia Siemens Networks announced its support for the 700 MHz spectrum band that will be auctioned by the FCC in early 2008, describing it as a unique opportunity for mobile broadband.
Nokia Siemens Networks is positioned to support the 700 MHz band with its flagship Flexi platform for radio access networks. The Flexi is a base station platform featuring a modular design capable of supporting various wireless technologies at new radio frequencies. This includes GSM, EDGE, WCDMA, HSPA, and WiMAX and in the future will support Long-term Evolution (LTE).
In addition to WCDMA/HSPA, Nokia Siemens Networks is developing Internet-HSPA, a pre-LTE flat network architecture based on the 3GPP Release 7 flat network architecture option that is compatible with HSPA devices and provides an optimized transition to LTE. Internet-HSPA is an option for broadband wireless high speed data delivery with a flat all-IP architecture.
