Allied Telesyn Offers Gateways for Copper or Fiber Triple Play

Allied Telesyn introduced a new family of residential gateways for carriers offering "triple play" voice, data, and video services. In addition to IP voice, video, and high-speed data capabilities, the new residential gateways include Layer 3 capabilities, such as network address translation (NAT), a stateful inspection firewall, and virtual server/DMZ functions.

The gateway could be used for either fiber or copper-based triple play services. It features three 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports, one 10/100FX/LX single-mode and multi-mode Ethernet WAN port, and two integral FXS ports for standard analog phones, faxes or modems. An integrated 10/100 Ethernet switch supports port-based operation on up to 16 tagged VLANs. It enables video delivery via IGMP (Internet Gateway Message Protocol) v1 and v2 snooping and proxying. The 16 VLAN support could be used for high-bandwidth video streaming without affecting Internet surfing or IP telephony on adjacent ports.

VoIP capabilities include support for SIP, MGCP, and H.323 signaling protocols.
