France Telecom announces WiFi initiatives

France Telecom unveiled initiatives to promote WiFi wireless broadband services. The plan includes deployment of public WiFi hotspots, as well as use of the technology to enhance its existing ADSL, corporate networks, GPRS and forthcoming UMTS services. France Telecom said it would focus on security to ensure the success of the technology.
