Qualcomm and Siemens test 5G private standalone in 3.7-3.8GHz band

Qualcomm and Siemens conducted a joint proof-of-concept project at the Siemens Automotive Test Center in Nuremberg, Germany that demonstrated the first private 5G standalone (SA) network in the 3.7-3.8GHz band.

Qualcomm is providing the 5G test network and 5G industrial test devices that run on our foundational 5G technologies, and Siemens is supplying industrial end-devices like automated guided vehicles (AGV).

Spark New Zealand pilots private 5G solution from Huawei

Spark New Zealand is testing a private 5G solution from Huawei to provide connectivity for a sailboat from Emirates Team New Zealand ahead of the next America’s Cup.

The trial 5G service, which covers parts of Auckland Harbour, off Milford and Takapuna,is an extension of Spark’s existing 5G Lab in Wynyard Quarter in downtown Auckland, and uses test spectrum on loan from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

It is delivered using Huawei equipment.

Orange and Siemens partner on Industrial IoT

Orange Business Services announced a partnership Siemens, the leading factory automation equipment provider, to drive the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the industrial sector by simplifying integration and promoting IoT innovation.

The initial focus will be to develop solutions around asset tracking and asset monitoring to optimize the supply chain and improve efficiencies, as well as to develop digitally enhanced products to increase customer satisfaction and create new business models.

Orange Business Services brings its global cellular connectivity, consulting, system integration and application development skills to the partnership. The alliance is built around Siemens’ MindSphere, the cloud-based open IoT operating system, and Datavenue, the Orange IoT and data analytics modular offering.

Siemens AG picks Orange Business Services for Global SD-WAN

Siemens AG has awarded a six-year contract to Orange Business Services for a global “Siemens Digitalization Network” (SDN) connecting 1,500 sites in 94 countries.

Under the new six-year contract, which was valued at 240 million Euros, Orange Business Services will migrate Siemens’ entire global infrastructure to a dynamic and flexible SD-WAN network which will connect cloud applications as well as IoT devices.
