Cambodia's SINET picks Nokia for XGS-PON

SINET, Cambodia's leading Internet Service Provider, has chosen Nokia to deploy its XGS Passive Optical Network (PON) for enterprise broadband service.

Nokia's XGS-PON solution will be initially deployed in the capital city of Phnom Penh before being expanded to other cities and regions. The deployment, which includes the upgrade of the existing Nokia fiber access nodes, will be completed in 2022. 

Nokia's fiber access solution is powered by its Quillion chipset, which concurrently supports three generations of PON technologies, GPON, XGS-PON and 25G PON.

Cambodia's SINET upgrades with Juniper

SINET, one of Cambodia’s largest internet and telecommunication service providers, has selected Juniper Networks to upgrade its network infrastructure., accelerating time-to-value for customers in Cambodia. 

SINET currently operates over 200 active network points of presence (POPs) in main cities, provincial towns, remote districts and villages across Cambodia. SINET will upgrade its Ethernet Virtual Private Network – Virtual Extensible LAN (EPVN-VxLAN) IP Fabric and Metro-Ethernet transport networks. The network upgrades includes:

• Juniper's QFX Series Switches, which provide the building blocks for SINET EVPN-VxLAN IP Fabric.
• Juniper's ACX Series Universal Metro Routers supporting SINET’s latest 200G Metro-Ethernet expansion project, bolstering its nationwide fiber network and maintaining its competitiveness with one of Cambodia’s most advanced networks.

Cambodia's SINET picks Nokia for FTTH

SINET, Cambodia's leading ISP, selected Nokia for a nationwide access network that will start in major residential and gated communities, locally known as borey and housing apartments in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

SINET will deliver broadband services targeted residents living in newly-built gated borey and housing apartments with the Nokia GPON Mini Optical Line Terminal (OLT).

The solution includes:

• Nokia 7362 Intelligent Service Access Manager (ISAM) Dense Fiber (DF) -16GW gives new flexibility in fiber deployments and helps optimize the fiber business case
• Nokia Mini OLT supports up to 8x 10GigE uplinks and 16-port GPON or 4-port XGS-PON/TWDM-PON downlinks and is capable of boosting the speeds of fiber networks
• Nokia 7368 ISAM ONT G-010G-Q provides a GPON interface to the subscriber and paves the way to deliver premium triple-play services in a FTTH environment

Asia Submarine-cable Express to be Extended to Cambodia

NTT Com has reached an agreement with Chuan Wei (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. to extend the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE) will be extended to Cambodia to provide reliable, high-capacity communication infrastructure for the increasing number of multinational companies operating in the Mekong region.  Under the agreement, NTT Com will lay Cambodia’s first submarine optical fiber cable.

The ASE submarine cable, which spans 7,800 km, is routed away from the Bashi Channel and the south coast of Taiwan, areas that frequently experience earthquakes and typhoons. The ASE also takes the shortest route of any submarine cable connecting Japan to Hong Kong and Singapore.

Participants in ASE include NTT Com, Telekom Malaysia, PLDT and StarHub.
