Spread Network Further Trims its Low Latency

Spread Networks, the new a privately owned telecommunications provider that has built a low latency Ethernet wave network connecting New York and Chicago, has further trimmed its low latency benchmark. Paul Baran, a pioneer in packet switching, early proponent of the ArpaNet, and serial networking entrepreneur, passed away on Saturday at his home in Palo Alto, California. He was 84. Baran is remembered for his influential work at the RAND Corporation in the 1960s which set the stage for the distributed routing design of the Internet.
