Shaanxi Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom, has deployed a five terabits per second (Tbps) cluster router system on its metropolitan area network in Xi'an. The companies believe this to be the largest router deployment of its kind.
Huawei said its NE5000E multi-chassis cluster systems with 2.56 Tbps capacity have been serving Shaanxi Telecom since 2006. Shaanxi Telecom has now upgraded the capacity of its existing Huawei cluster router to 5Tbps (4 cluster line-card chassis each with 1.28 Tbps capacity and 2 cluster central chassis configuration). The upgrade occurred without service interruption or hardware replacements. http://www.huawei.com
