Huawei Sets US$30 Billion Target for 2009

Huawei Technologies has set a 2009 sales target of $30 billion, which would represent a significant growth over the $23 billion in deals reported for 2008.

Huawei, which is not a public company and does not officially publish its financial results, said it garnered sales worth $17.7 billion last year, 41 percent up from 2007.

Huawei said that despite the global downturn, it looked to take market share for major European rivals, especially Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, and Nokia Siemens Networks. The company is also looking for growth from China's 3G rollout this year.
