RCN Deploys Turin's Traverse Multiservice Transport Switch

RCN Business Solutions is deploying Turin Networks' Traverse Multiservice Transport Switch to launch Carrier Ethernet services to business customers. The Traverse platform unifies Carrier Ethernet/MPLS switching with next-generation SONET/SDH functionality in a single shelf optimized for metro and interoffice deployments.



RCN Business Solutions has over 9500 route miles of fiber optic and coaxial cable at its disposal in six key metropolitan markets: Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Chicago and San Francisco.



The deployed Carrier Ethernet applications include multipoint E-LAN, as well as point-to-point Ethernet Private Line (EPL) services at both 10/100 and 1,000 Mbps rates, with bandwidth flexibility in 1 Mbps increments.
