Level 3 to Provide Optical Wavelength Services to Cox

Level 3 Communications will supply multiple optical wavelength services to Cox Communications. Specifically, Level 3 is providing Cox with 2.5 Gbps wavelengths that stretch from Rhode Island to California on a route that also connects to Level 3 facilities in Omaha and Las Vegas. Additionally, the (3)Link Global Wavelength services connect San Diego to Phoenix and Dallas to New Orleans. Level 3 said it turned up the wavelenghts using its proprietary online customer network management and service provisioning system, which also enables customers to check Level 3's capacity inventory and prices, plan and order circuits, and manage their Level 3 network via a Web-based interface. On-net wavelength services can be activated within 10 days of ordering. Financial terms were not disclosed. Cox now utilizes a full suite of Level 3 services, including (3)CrossRoads Internet access, (3)Center Colocation, (3)Link Private Line, (3)Voice Termination and metropolitan dark fiber services.
