Agilent Introduces VPLS Test Solution

Agilent introduced a virtual private LAN service (VPLS) test solution for simulation of very large networks and measurement of the traffic forwarding performance of VPLS-enabled routers. The RouterTester 900 provides automatic generation and measurements of VPLS traffic over large topologies. VPLS is an emerging Layer-2 VPN technology that provides Ethernet services between dispersed customer sites over a service provider's network. Routing XS cards for the RouterTester 900 provide emulation of up to 2000 BGP peers per card, with similar performance increases for OSPF and RIP. Interfaces currently available in Routing XS models include 10/100 Ethernet (4-ports), Gigabit Ethernet, OC3c/12c POS, and OC48c POS. Product shipments are expected in September 2003.
