Pure Fi intros HDMI Active Optical Cable

Pure Fi introduced an Ultra High Speed HDMI Active Optical Cable (AOC) capable of supporting HDMI 2.1a features including uncompressed 8K video content at 60 Hz over extended runs.

The AOC is designed for professional A/V use and is suited to digital signage applications.

Highlights

  • Throughput up to 48 Gbps, supporting 8K content at 60 Hz or 4K content at 120 Hz.
  • Extended Range: Pure Fi’s 50-foot AOC is certified through the Ultra High Speed HDMI cable certification program, and additional lengths of 15 and 25 feet are in the process of being certified. Additionally, custom cable lengths can be made and certified upon request.
  • Low Electromagnetic Interference: Running 8K video content via traditional copper cables generates high electromagnetic interference, whereas Pure Fi’s AOC generates near-zero EMI.
  • Lightweight & Flexible: In contrast to heavy shielded copper cables, Pure Fi’s AOC is less than .2 inch thick, and a 300-foot cable weighs less than one pound, making installation a breeze.
  • True-to-Life Sound: Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) allows high-fidelity audio for an immersive surround-sound experience.
  • Plug & Play Simplicity: Unidirectional cables greatly simplify connectivity, with no external power or software required.
  • Compliant with the Latest Industry Standards: Pure Fi’s new HDMI AOC is fully compliant with the latest industry standards, including version 2.1a of the HDMI specification.

“HDMI Forum in conjunction with HDMI LA have created the Ultra High Speed HDMI cable certification program to ensure HDMI cables are tested and certified to the HDMI 2.1a specification at HDMI Forum Authorized Testing Centers,” said Rob Tobias, CEO and President of HDMI Licensing Administrator. “We applaud Pure Fi for certifying their AOC cables so that installers can be assured they are buying quality cables that have passed certification testing.”

Credo's Active Electrical Cables carry 400G over 7m

Credo announced its second generation HiWire LP SPAN AEC (Low Power SPAN Active Electrical Cable) family, promising a reduction in power of nearly 50% and while increasing reach 40% compared to first generation.

The hot-swappable LP SPAN AEC is positioned as a reliable, plug and play replacement of Active Optical Cables (AOC) for high-speed interconnects up to 400Gbps at approximately half the power and lower cost.

Credo says its LP SPAN AECs are easier to deploy than DACs due to their longer reach, lighter weight, and tighter bend radius.  It’s designed for rack-to-rack connectivity, especially in Distributed Disaggregated Chassis (DDC) implementations.

400G LP SPAN AECs are terminated with QSFP-DD modules and support 8x56G lanes while 200G LP SPAN AECs are terminated with QSFP65 modules and support 4x56G lanes. The cables use PAM4 modulation at both ends and have integrated retimers.

Spectra7 and MultiLane demo 112Gbps PAM4 Active Copper Cable

Spectra7 Microsystems and MultiLane Technologies demonstrated 112Gbps PAM4 Active Copper Cable (ACC) technology at this week's DesignCon event in San Jose, California.

Spectra7 said ACCs enabled by its new 112G PAM4 GaugeChanger chip will extend copper cable reach 2.5 times, up to 4 meters at a fraction of the cost of optics. Critically, at a time when Hyperscale operators are struggling with power consumption and carbon emissions, ACCs using the Spectra7 technology will consume only 200mW of power per channel, which is up to 12 times lower power than optical solutions.

Spectra7's GC1122 solution is the latest addition to the company's GaugeChanger product line and extends the data rate from 56Gbps PAM4 to 112Gbps PAM4 per lane. Since the GC1122 is analog and highly linear, dynamics such as line rate adjustment, multi-level signaling, intermittent line silence, transmit pre-emphasis or amplitude adjustment and receiver adaptivity are fully preserved. The GC1122 is packaged in an ultra-small 2.7mm x 4.2mm chip scale package making it easily embeddable in even the smallest of connectors.

The DesignCon demonstration highlights Spectra7's new GC1122 device as well as MultiLane's latest high speed test equipment including the ML4015D DSO and the ML4039E BERT.

"Spectra7's new GC1122 is set to fill a big need in the data center interconnect market," said MultiLane CEO Fadi Daou. "We are delighted to be working with Spectra7 and their cable partners as they anticipate bringing their 112Gbps products to mass production in 2022."

"We are seeing tremendous interest from every Hyperscaler to get sample 800Gbps cables that are enabled by our new GC1122 solution", said Spectra7 CEO Raouf Halim. "Both we and our cable partners believe that 800Gbps will represent a significant acceleration in the growth and adoption of our ACC data center interconnect technology."
