NSN Confirms LTE Project with TIM Brasil

TIM Brasil has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy an LTE network layer on top of the operator’s existing 2G and 3G networks in the 2.6 GHz frequency band.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will deliver an LTE radio access network featuring its Flexi Multiradio Base Stations. Nokia Siemens Networks will also upgrade TIM Brasil’s NetAct network management system to enable consolidated and effective monitoring, management and optimization of its network.

In addition, the company will deliver its Intelligent Self Organizing Networks (iSON) capability for increased automation and faster rollout. “Our long-term partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks has been excellent, and the 2G and 3G equipment installed by the company is performing so well that it was a natural decision to deploy an LTE network with the same vendor,” said Marco di Costanzo, Head of Mobile Network, TIM Brasil. “We are confident that Nokia Siemens Networks will build a robust LTE network for us to launch ultra-fast 4G mobile broadband services to satisfy our customers.”
