IPtronics Announces 4x25 Gbps

IPtronics announced a 4x25 Gbps chipset -- the first in a set of dedicated devices the company plans to offer for low power, high volume parallel optical interconnects primarily focused at computer communications.

IPtronics is seeking to revolutionize the interconnect landscape by focusing on system challenges in addition to packaging constraints. The company said recent developments in VCSEL, photo diode, connector and packaging technologies, combined with the availability of driver and receiver IC’s, underline that parallel optical interconnects at 25 Gbps is not only within reach, but becoming a reality this year.

IPtronics expect its VCSEL based approach will be the technology of choice for short reach parallel optical interconnects at 25G due to cost and flexibility advantages.http://iptronics.com
