Apple Cites Record Demand for iPhone 4

Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of the new iPhone 4. The company comfirmed that this was the largest number of pre-orders it has ever taken in a single day. The volume resulted in many order and approval system malfunctions.

AT&T also issued a statement saying iPhone 4 pre-order sales on June 15 were 10-times higher than the first day of pre-ordering for the iPhone 3G S last year. AT&T has suspended pre-order sales pending new inventory.
