Intel Adds "My WiFi" Hotspot Capabilities

At CES, Intel introduced its 2010 family of Core i7, i5 and i3 processors, Intel 5 Series Chipsets, and Intel Centrino Wi-Fi and WiMAX adapters that include new Intel My WiFi capabilities.

Intel My WiFi enables up to eight personal Wi-Fi certified devices, such as other laptops, smartphones, cameras or picture frames, to be directly connected to your laptop, while the laptop is simultaneously connected to the Internet.

Previously, with Wi-Fi ad hoc mode, you need to disconnect from the Internet to connect to a single Wi-Fi device. Intel My WiFi technology stays connected to the Internet and can run up to eight additional consumer electronics device connections.

The technology works with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
