Siemens Supplies 40 Gbps Optical Transmission for Retelit

Italy's Retelit S.p.A. awarded a contract to Siemens to supply its Surpass hiT 7300 based on DWDM platforms. As a result, the transmission capacity will be increased up to 40 Gbps per wavelength, offering a maximum capacity of 1.6 Tbps per fiber. Siemens will deliver Retelit's DWDM-based fiber optic transmission network as a turnkey solution. Financial terms were not disclosed.



The Retelit network spans 6,034 km, of which 1,431 km are in urban centers.
