NTT Sees ADLS Adds Drop Off as Optical Access Subscriptions Accelerate

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) reported FY 2006 Q3 (ending 31-Dec-2005) revenue of 7,915 billion yen, down 0.9% from a year earlier, and operating income (GAAP) of 1,017 billion yen, down 10.1% from a year earlier. Net income was 477.8 billion yen, down 31.6% from a year earlier.



During the quarter ending 31-Dec-2005, NTT added 459,00 B-FLETs optical access subscribers, giving it a total of 2,815,00 B-FLETs customers. This compares to additions of 365,000 B-FLETs subscribers in the preceding quarter.



NTT also added 93,000 ADSL users in the December quarter, giving it a total of 5,669,000 ADSL users. This increase compares to 138,000 ADSL additions in the preceding quarter and 263,000 new ADSL users a year earlier.
