SBC Reaches Deal with Union Covering 11,000 Workers

SBC Communications and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers agreed to a new five-year contract covering almost 11,000 SBC employees in Illinois and northwest Indiana. The union said the new agreement addresses its major objectives of job security, protecting health benefits for both active union members and retirees, and providing improvements in wages and pensions.
