AT&T has resumed marketing residential local service in Illinois following last week's preliminary injunction from a federal court blocking implementation of Illinois Senate Bill 885. The bill would have nearly doubled the wholesale rates SBC charges competitors to lease parts of its network.
Separately, AT&T announced general availability of its residential local service in Massachusetts. AT&T now provides local phone service to some 3 million consumers in 12 states. The company has said that it expects to be offering bundled local, long distance and Internet service in as many as 22 markets by the end of 2003.
