Mexico's Unefon Selects Sonus for Packet Voice Network

Unefon, a Mexican mobile carrier that is expanding to provide fixed telephony services, long distance and Internet access, has chosen Sonus Networks to deploy a next-generation packet voice network. The deployment includes Sonus' GSX9000 Open Services Switch, the Insignus Softswitch and the Sonus Insight Management System. Initially, Unefon will deliver enterprise PBX access services via the GSX9000 Open Services Switch, enabling a variety of local services, including emergency services, direct dialing, call transfer, call privacy, call screening and more. In subsequent deployment phases, Unefon plans to add long distance services as well as SIP enhanced call center, conferencing, prepaid calling and other services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
