iPass and Cometa to Work Together on Wi-Fi Network Plans

Cometa Networks agreed to include its planned Wi-Fi (802.11) hotspots into the iPass Global Broadband Roaming Service for enterprise users. Cometa expects to begin rolling out its Wi-Fi network access in top U.S. urban markets during the Q4 2003.

  • Cometa Networks was created in December 2002 by AT&T, Intel, IBM and global investment concerns Apax Partners and 3i. It plans to provide wholesale access to some 20,000 hotspots located in major retail centers in major urban areas.
