Metromedia Fiber Network Launches GigE over Fiber Service

Metromedia Fiber Network announced a new Gigabit Ethernet service that runs over a private, direct fiber connection. MFN uses a pair of dedicated fiber strands to assure transport security. The company said its GigE service is designed to absorb usage bursts without latency to give customers the capability to meet high-bandwidth demands for mission critical, content-intensive and streaming media applications. Target customers include businesses currently using DS-3s or multiple T-1s.
