Russia's National Cable Networks (NCN) has selected Harmonic's full range of compression, video processing, edgeQAM and on-demand solutions. The new deployment will enable NCN to provide its 700,000 customers throughout Moscow with digital television as well as advanced services such as video-on-demand (VOD) and network-based digital video recording (DVR). With over 4.5 million subscribers nationwide, NCN is Russia's largest cable operator. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Specifically, Alcatel-Lucent will extend and increase the density of 3 Italia's DVB-H terrestrial transmitters network across Italy, enabling 3 Italia to offer broadcast Mobile TV services to its 8.45 million UMTS customers. Alcatel-Lucent's Mobile TV terrestrial transmitters will be integrated into 3 Italia's existing mobile sites, as well as new sites, and a new remote monitoring system.
