Puppet raises $42 million for its DevOps automation software

Puppet, which develops software automation tools, announced $42 million in funding led by Cisco Investments along with EDBI, Kleiner Perkins, True Ventures, and VMware.

In the last year, Puppet opened five new offices in Seattle, Singapore, Sydney, Timisoara and Tokyo to meet the increasing demand for DevOps and automation throughout the world. The most significant expansion was in Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) where Puppet opened a new regional headquarters in Singapore. As part of today’s announcement, Puppet is excited to add EDBI as a new investor, focused on the Singapore and APJ markets.

Puppet appoints Sanjay Mirchandani as CEO

Puppet announced the appointment of Sanjay Mirchandani as chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors, replacing founder Luke Kanies, who will remain a strong advocate for the company as a member of the board.

Mirchandani joined Puppet in May as the company’s first-ever president and chief operating officer. He previously served as corporate senior vice president and general manager at VMware for Asia Pacific and Japan. Before this, Mirchandani held several management positions at EMC, including CIO of the company’s IT organization. He also led the company’s Global Centers of Excellence, emerging markets and international development initiatives. Prior to EMC, Mirchandani held several field-based senior management roles at Microsoft over an 11 year period.

Puppet Refreshes its Brand

Puppet Labs officially shortened its name to "Puppet" as part a corporate rebranding aimed at the $200 billion software infrastructure market that is emerging as a result of mass migration to the cloud.
