Italtel Launches NFV--based 'SIP Trunking as a Service'

Italtel announced the availability of its 'SIP Trunking as a Service' solution - based on its NetMatch-S Cloud-Inside Session Border Controller (SBC) - for service providers' business customers.

The service enables the deployment of a session border controller in the cloud data center rather than at the customer premise.

Italtel CEO Stefano Pileri said: "This solution gives Service Providers a competitive advantage by allowing them to offer flexible and scalable UC&C solutions in their Clouds via an "as a service" model. Their business customers, on the other hand, will benefit from a flexible solution offering security and Service Level Agreements, as well as seamless and automatic updates with best-in-class features which follow a 'pay-as-you-grow' model and can be easily implemented."

Italtel Introduces Virtualized Session Border Controllers

Italtel is introducing a Session Border Controller (SBC) that leverages Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies to provide greater flexibility based on the telco-in-the-cloud model.

Italtel's NetMatch-S manages and secures voice, video and multimedia IP sessions at the border of Enterprises and Service Providers' networks. It will be offered in three different models:

  • Performance Edition - based on 14-slots ATCA shelf
  • Compact Edition - based on 2-slots ATCA shelf
  • Lite Edition - the pure software edition running on COTS hardware platforms

It is designed to support different virtualization technologies, including VMware, Linux KVM and MS System Center, and can be managed by different/multiple Cloud Orchestrators.

"Our NetMatch-S is the first "cloud-inside" SBC because it was fully designed and developed in a cloud environment," said Stefano Pileri, CEO of Italtel. "Maximum flexibility, dynamic configuration and scalability to respond to customers' needs are the key features of this product which is designed for differentiating service solutions and strongly reducing OpEx."

Italtel Session Border Controller Qualified by Microsoft

Italtel's NetMatch-S Session Border Controller (SBC) has gained certification from Microsoft for interoperability with Lync 2013. NetMatch-S is the only SBC that currently interoperates with the Microsoft Communications Platform and can be installed in virtualized environment.

Italtel joined the Microsoft Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program (UCOIP) and is the first vendor of Session Border Controllers, at European level, to have been certified under the Microsoft program.

Lync 2013 is Microsoft's Unified Communications & Collaborations platform for IP networks of Small Medium Enterprises, Corporate Companies, Service Providers.

“In the ever-changing world of Information Technology,” said Federico Descalzo, Vice President of Smart Networks & Products at Italtel, “innovative communication technologies and methodologies grow very fast. To allow the full exploitment and integration of such technologies in multimedia networks, network intelligence is key. And network intelligence is at the heart of our products, both at the edge of networks and in the central infrastructure. NetMatch-S, today certified for Microsoft Lync 2013, is a concrete example of this: a network element that acts as a controller at the network edge to allow dialogue among worlds that are heterogeneous as for technologies, services and communication tools.”
