Eurofiber selects Nokia for DWDM

Eurofiber Group, the leading supplier and operator of Open Network infrastructure in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany selected Nokia for a multi-country DWDM roll out, datacenter switching and multiple other areas.

This agreement, covering all Eurofiber affiliates, underlines the mutual commitment of the two companies to develop superfast, high-capacity fiber optic networks in Europe with the highest service standards possible. Within Eurofiber France, first optical networks are already under deployment in the south and north of France. Next to France, Nokia is also deploying a DWDM city network in Germany for the Berlin based joint venture Vattenfall-Eurofiber. In Belgium, both companies agreed to renew the nationwide DWDM network. The Eurofiber Cloud Infra unit selected SR Linux from Nokia as their switching platform.

These networks will further enhance and expand the more than 60,000 km of Eurofiber fiber infrastructure.

Jan van Tetering, Senior Vice President Europe at Nokia, said: “Nokia is proud to add Eurofiber as a customer. We are determined to serve Eurofiber Group and its affiliates with our strong portfolio and presence in the four countries where they operate and help them expand their Open Networks’ footprint. This frame agreement is a solid foundation for our joint growth business ambition in Europe, sharing the same values to operate in an ethical, sustainable and secure way.”

Eric Kuisch, COO Eurofiber Group, said: “Eurofiber has an ambitious growth agenda in Western Europe. A fully integrated high capacity DWDM network, and future-proof, highly secure datacenter equipment are main technological enablers to realize these ambitions. We are looking forward to partner with Nokia in providing our customers with the highest quality available.”

MEF18 PoC - E-LAN over Multiple Domains via LSO Interlude

MEF18 Proof of Concept, 29 - 31 Oct - End-to-end Service Orchestration of E-LAN over Multiple Domains via the LSO Interlude Interface and Across Multiple Vendors. PoC participants: Eurofiber and Inmanta.

Speaker: Jeroen van der Laan, Software Solution Architect, Eurofiber.

Zero-touch automation of network services across domains and technologies provides many business opportunities. At MEF18, Eurofiber demonstrates end-to-end service orchestration of E-LAN services over multiple providers and across vendors and technologies. The company relies on the Inmanta Service Orchestrator to achieve fully automated fulfillment and management of the E-LAN services. End-to-end service orchestration results in much faster delivery, more flexibility, and higher reliability.

This PoC is the result of the actual Proof of Concept that has been created within the Eurofiber Group together with Inmanta. In the Showcase, a customer can order (or adapt) an E-LAN service by providing a few parameters to the business application. Using these parameters, all other configuration of the service is automatically deducted. The orchestrator applies the changes to the network services and infrastructure in a reliable and structured way, guaranteeing end-to-end consistency across domains.

Eurofiber NL and UNET are part of the Eurofiber Group, a fast-growing international provider of industry-leading digital infrastructure. With its fiber-optic network and high-quality datacenters, Eurofiber provides companies, government bodies, and non-profit organizations with a future-proof infrastructure. An open infrastructure that enables customers to thrive, innovate, and reach their full potential is the foundation for a smart society.

Inmanta is a spin-off of the University of Leuven and enables CSPs to deliver their services much faster and with more flexibility. Its end-to-end service orchestrator automates and streamlines the entire service lifecycle. Instead of months and years to deliver services and release new features, Inmanta reduces the process to a matter of weeks and minutes.

Eurofiber deploys ADVA FSP 150 for flexible business services

Eurofiber, which operates an extensive fiber network across The Netherlands and Belgium, is deploying the ADVA FSP 150 as the customer premise equipment of its new flexible business services.

The ADVA FSP 150 provides a single platform for MEF-certified Layer 2 and 3 services and easily scales from 1GbE to 10GbE. With zero touch provisioning, the device is simple to deploy and its comprehensive assurance services offer unparalleled support for SLA management.

ADVA said its intelligent, multi-layer demarcation and aggregation technology enables Eurofiber to respond to rapidly growing demand from enterprises across the Netherlands and Belgium for high-bandwidth, cost-effective SLA-based Carrier Ethernet connectivity.

“Our FSP 150 enables Eurofiber to meet ever-increasing demand for cloud services while also optimizing its infrastructure to support diverse network technologies. Now it can instantly increase bandwidth as soon as customers require it and address the emerging need for multi-layer networking,” commented Ed Zalmstra, sales director, Netherlands, ADVA. "Our FSP 150 delivers the flexibility to quickly transition from 1Gbit/s to 10Gbit/s Ethernet services without requiring extra space and power consumption. Having all that functionality in one compact platform is a real advantage. We’re proud that Eurofiber selected us for this project. It highlights the value not only of our innovation but also our people. To be chosen once again to take Eurofiber’s business services to the next stage shows their continuing faith in our experience and commitment to quality, as well as the strength of the relationship between our teams.”
