Telia Lithuania is upgrading its national telecom network with Ciena's WaveLogic 5 Extreme (WL5e) technology.
This upgrade enables the introduction of Lithuania's first 800G wavelength service between major cities, supporting 400G services and up.
The network's capabilities are further extended through additional Ciena solutions, including the 6500 packet-optical platform with WL5e and WaveLogic Ai optics for increased capacity and power efficiency, faster wavelength restoration, and improved service deployment and network operations facilitated by Ciena's Navigator Network Control Suite.
Andrius Šemeškevičius, Head of Technology at Telia Lithuania, emphasized the company's commitment to innovation, particularly in data transmission, choosing Ciena for their leading optical technology. Virginie Hollebecque, Ciena's Vice President of EMEA, highlighted the network's resilience as crucial for the digitally dependent Baltic region, ensuring quick recovery from disruptions and continuous service.
