At CES 2023, Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon Satellite, bringing satellite-based two-way capable messaging for premium Android smartphones.
Snapdragon Satellite will provide global connectivity using mobile messaging from around the world1, starting with devices based on the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform.
The service will be supported by the fully operational Iridium satellite constellation using its L-band spectrum. Qualcomm will provide Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF Systems.

Beyond smartphones, Snapdragon Satellite can expand to other devices, including laptops, tablets, vehicles and IoT. As the Snapdragon Satellite ecosystem grows, OEMs and app developers can differentiate and offer unique branded services taking advantage of satellite connectivity.
Snapdragon Satellite is planned to support 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), as NTN satellite infrastructure and constellations become available.
