Akamai hit by DNS disruption

A faulty software configuration update at Akamai triggered a bug in its DNS on Thursday at 15:46 UTC. This led to widespread website outages for many of its customers.

Akamai confirmed via Twitter that the disruption was not caused by a cyber attack.

Once Akamai rolled back the configuration update, the service was restored. The outage lasted for about an hour.
