Ericsson to Acquire Fabrix for Cloud DVR

Ericsson agreed to acquire Fabrix Systems, a provider of cloud storage, computing and network delivery for cable and telecom cloud DVR deployments, for US$95 million.


Fabrix Systems, which has offices in Princeton, New Jersey and and Israel, developed a software-based, scale out, network attached storage (NAS) system that leverages the available processing resources on the cluster to also perform distributed computing. It features a "Shared Nothing" architecture and a Storage and Processing Grid that integrates media workflows and can ingest, store, process and stream massive amount of media.  The company has 103 employees and was founded in 2006.

  • Fabrix Systems is headed by Mr. Ram Ben-Yakir, who was previously a cofounder of Elgix Ltd. Previously, he was Vice President of Engineering with Bandwiz Inc. where he was responsible for developing a Multicast VOD Server, and a video assets P2P distribution system.
