Microsoft Debuts Xbox SmartGlass Linking Multiple Devices

Microsoft unveiled Xbox SmartGlass -- its vision for bridging entertainment between devices.

Xbox SmartGlass is an application for Windows 8, Windows Phone, and other portable devices that connects phones, PCs and tablets with an Xbox 360 console. The idea is to deliver companion content on the portable device for the primary content being watched or played on the big screen.

"With Xbox SmartGlass, we are lighting up entertainment across your phone, tablet, PC and TV in a completely new way," said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft.

Microsoft will launch Internet Explorer for Xbox this fall in all countries where Xbox and Xbox LIVE are available. This will enable Xbox users to surf the web using voice or gesture commands. Microsoft also announced a number of new, top-tier online content providers for Xbox 360. http://www.microsoft.com
