Intel to Acquire Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE Patents from InterDigital

Intel will acquire approximately wireless 1,700 patents and patent applications from InterDigital for $375 million in cash. The patents are primarily related to 3G, LTE and 802.11 technologies.



InterDigital is an active developer of advanced wireless technologies including WCDMA, HSDPA and HSUPA3G technologies as well as LTE and LTE-Advanced.

  • In April 2012, Intel agreed to acquire selected patents and patent applications from Aware for approximately $75 million. The patents and patent applications relate to WiFi (802.11n/ac), LTE and Wireline Home Networking.
