Nokia Siemens Networks unveiled a new Flexi Compact Base Station -- the industry's smallest macro base station for 3-sector sites. The new unit weighs 25kg and combines baseband, radio and integrated transport in the single enclosure. The product is designed for rapid deployment because it requires minimum site infrastructure. Commercial release is planned for mid-year 2012.
Output power is rated at 3x60 watts. The Flexi Compact Base Station is a multi-radio product based on multicarrier power amplifier technology (MCPA). Nokia Siemens Networks' 6-pipes Flexi Multiradio Radio Frequency (RF) module 6Tx , which will be commercially available early 2013, will enable high capacity multi-radio sites for LTE rollouts, and is ready for evolution to LTE-Advanced.
The company believes its new Flexi Compact Base Station will allow operators to modernize their GSM networks at the lowest total cost of ownership.
