XO Deploys BridgeWave's FlexPort for Wireless Links

XO Communications has deployed BridgeWave's FlexPort80 links to provide high-speed wireless network connectivity for customers not directly connected to the XO nationwide fiber network. FlexPort's single all-outdoor solution eliminated the need for XO Communications to allocate or lease rack space inside cabinets or in buildings. Alternative microwave solutions required two separate radios in order to provide less than full-rate gigabit connectivity.

XO Communications holds licenses for 28-31 Ghz broadband wireless spectrum in 75 markets across the U.S.

BridgeWave's FlexPort80 offers full-rate gigabit speeds, as well as the ability to support both native TDM and IP traffic without the mandate for pseudowire or other third party devices.http://www.bridgewave.comBridgeWave Communications, which supplies high-capacity, full-rate gigabit millimeter wave (60 GHz and 80 GHz) products, has expanded its FlexPort product family into the microwave domain. BridgeWave's FlexPort µWave microwave radio is a compact, all-outdoor unit capable of transmitting full-rate gigabit Ethernet. It features BridgeWave's Ethernet switching, digital modem and signal processing technologies and achieves full-rate gigabit transmissions in the lower frequency spectrum from 11 to 38 GHz. TheFlexPort family was designed for network operators wanting to either migrate to next-generation 4G networks from their existing 2G/3G networks, or for new service providers building "greenfield" WiMAX or LTE networks. The new FlexPort µWave offers a cost effective migration path from initial medium capacity (300Mbps) transport, to full-rate gigabit access and backhaul connections without the added expense of a second tower climb.
